Las Vegas Police Hunt Woman Accused of Killing Victim with Fentanyl

La policía de Las Vegas busca a una mujer a la que se le acusa de proporcionar a un hombre una sobredosis mortal del fentanilo, antes de dejarlo morir en un casino fuera de la franja.

Following the event at the Rio Hotel & Casino last May, the suspect, Cori Lynn Perkins, whose location is unknown, emptied the victim Ricardo Ortiz's wallet, took his car, and went shopping, as stated in a Clark County grand jury indictment.

Ortiz's corpse was discovered unclothed in a hotel room at the Rio on May 1, 2024. On Thursday, a judge from the Clark County District Court put out a warrant for Perkins’ arrest.

She faces 15 felony charges. These encompass second-degree murder for not providing or seeking medical help for someone harmed or deceased due to a controlled substance, administering a drug to facilitate the commission of a felony, residential burglary, vehicle burglary, grand theft auto, and theft.

Ortiz and Perkins were seen on the Rio’s security cameras going into a hotel room on the 18th floor. A little while later, Perkins exited the room by himself.

According to prosecutors, she was subsequently observed in the video getting into a gold Nissan Sentra owned by Ortiz’s mother.

According to the indictment, she later used Ortiz’s debit card to spend over $2,000 at various stores like Smith’s Grocery, Target, Sprouts, Walmart, and Pizza Hut.

Clark County Deputy District Attorney James Puccinelli stated that the claims were “especially severe,” noting that Perkins poses a “threat to the community” as she frequently targets people at Las Vegas casinos by incapacitating them with fentanyl to rob them.

Demise in Venice

Perkins isn't the sole individual employing this specific method. Earlier this month, the wife of a man who received a fatal dosage of fentanyl from a sex worker at the Venetian Las Vegas filed a lawsuit against the casino for not safeguarding her husband.

The lawsuit was initiated by Jennifer Jacoby, whose spouse, Jeffrey Jacoby, was assaulted and abandoned to die by Cheylee Kessee in March 2023.

Her complaint contends that the security personnel at the Palazzo, the upscale hotel in the Venetian, ought to have identified Kessee and her pimp, Kashon Glass, since they had a prior record of targeting men for theft.

Originally accused of murder, Kessee eventually accepted a plea for voluntary manslaughter and robbery and is currently serving a 20-year prison term. Glass is serving a 50-year sentence after being found guilty of the same offenses.
